Flowers worth Tk 11cr to be sold in 2 days

Natun Sokal Report : While flowers are deemed as the best gift for near and dear ones during special days like Pahela Falgun and Valentine’s Day, giving a boost to the country’s flower business.

It is estimated that various kinds of flowers, worth of around Tk 11 crore have been grown and sold targeting the two occasions on February 13, Pahela Falgun, and February 14, Valentine`s Day, according to Bangladesh Flower Society.

According to sources, flowers worth Tk 10 crore was sold in the two days of last year. Flowers worth about Tk four crore will be sold in the Shahbagh market.

According to flower traders and agriculturists, flowers are being grown in about 19 districts, such as Jessore, Jhenidah, Chuadanga, Bogra, Rangpur, Dhaka, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet. Every day flowers are brought to the capital’s Shahbagh market.
